Entryway Beam Restoration

Exposed beams in New Mexico face serious challanges....rain, snow and blistering heat.



After 30+ years, the first beam (after power washing/brushing), looks like this:



This is obviously a job for someone who knows that they're doing. First thing, strip the paint:



Second, fill all cavities with a durable epoxy resin/sawdust mixture, and, in this particular case, "sister" a new 2x8 to the original 4x8 to replace lost strength.



Third, apply at least 2 coats of the most durable exterior paint available:



Finally, repeat 13 more times!:)
